OpenStudy (anonymous):

just grab a couple of points of the graph and find the slope then put it into the y=mx+b form

OpenStudy (mertsj):

V= -2000t + 20000 That is the equation of the line shown which is for Cybelle's car. Peter's car cost less so his y intercept should be less since that is the car'r value at time = 0 (that means when the car was new). Also the problem said that the car's both lost value at the same rate so the slopes of the two lines should be the same. So we could say that the equation for Peter's car could be V = -2000t +18000 or maybe V = -2000t + 14375. Do you get it? Just so the y-intercept (the cost was the car was new) is something reasonable.
