in geometry, i am given an angle, and told to construct an angle that is 1.5 times the size of the angle given. how would i do this?

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

using compass and ruler only?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes.

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

shoot! - i'll have to think about this

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is the size of the angle given

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the size is not given. and in this geometry class, we are not allowed to use protractors. so i dont think the size of the angle given is necessary.

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

i know how to bisect an angle but i;m not sure how this helps

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do u do schoole online ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no, this is highschool. and i know how to bisect an angle too... not necessary lol :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

holed on im googleing this

OpenStudy (anonymous):

www.jimloy.com/geometry/trisect.htm

OpenStudy (anonymous):

see if that helps

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait a minute, i think i found a way to do this with the angle bisector. i'm also going to email my math teacher. but thank you for the help anyway, guys!

OpenStudy (phi):

double the angle, and then bisect one of them
