how would a piece of iron nail react in a gelatin solution with K3Fe(CN)6 and 1% phenolphtalein?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the color would turn pink around due to formation of OH(neg) ions and the nail would rust

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What if the nail is wrapped with copper wire? or zinc metal?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if zinc then it would turn blue due to formation of potassium ferriferrocyanide and wont rust and if copper same pink and rust

OpenStudy (anonymous):

these are redox reactions, right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah sure buddy

thanks :)
