OpenStudy (waheguru):

How do I explain if one line is steeper than the other like for example 1/2 and 2/1 I know that 1/2 is steeper but how do I prove or explain that?

OpenStudy (kainui):

Graph them! Remember that slope is rise over run. Is 1/2 really steeper than 2/1? Graph it out and find out.

OpenStudy (asnaseer):

the slope tells you how much you climb or fall in the y direction for every unit step you take in the positive x direction. slope 1/2 means that if you take a unit step in the positive x direction, then you will climb by 1/2 a unit in the y direction. slope 2/1 (or just 2) means that if you take a unit step in the positive x direction, then you will climb by 2 units in the y direction. so slope of 2 is steeper.
