because cellulose is in long strands parallel to each other bound together by Hydrogen bonds. it is fibrous

OpenStudy (anonymous):

rope is made of thin strands bound togetrher. these strands are then put together to form bigger strands - like cellulose, lots of microfibrils form macrofibrils....see a pic, that helps most!
