When y varies directly with x, then an equation of the form y=kx can be written. In the given example, we have y=kx 11=k*8, or k=11/8 Check that k=11/8 works with the rest of the data: (11/8)*16=22 OK (11/8)*24=33 OK So the relation is a direct variation, and the constant k = 11/8=1.375 Can you find the right answer from the 4 choices?
