Explaining how to solve rational inequalities question inside~~

OpenStudy (askme12345):

I need to check the factors sign value and write the solution - i figured the x intercept is -8 and the y intercept is 7

OpenStudy (askme12345):

the equation is x+8/x-7 >0

Was my answer wrong?

First thing say "x doesn't equal 7" now you can multiply both sides by (x-7) and to divide it into 2 cases (i) x-7 > 0 (ii) x-7<0 you are left with (i) x+8 > 0 (ii) x+8 < 0 threfor (i) gives you x > -8 together with x>7 , combined you get x>7 (ii) gives you x < -8 combined with x<7 gives you x<-8 the full answer is x<-8 or x>7
