Sometimes the openstudy page becomes unresponsive

Ok so it use to work fine until recently my page often freezes or lags. i dont know if this happens to everyone or if its just me

I get this quite a bit as well. I usually just have to stop using the website until things catch up.

The chats are often especially slow to respond to my typing.

Yeah, sorry about that. All I can say is we're aware of the issue. It's a part of the usual growing pains that sites like ours go through. We're constantly working on more performance enhancements. I've actually got a batch of those I've been working on that should come out in the next release or the one thereafter depending.

I seem to notice that my browser hangs the most when there are multiple fade effects occurring at the same time. I've had similar issues with that and jQuery. It almost makes me want a "low graphics setting" haha. I don't even want to imagine what it might be like in internet explorer sometimes! (Or better possibly? I don't know how well the video card optimization with IE ended up working)

Loving openstudy so far though. A lot of the concepts here are really excellent.

Oh trust me. The abysmal performance of IE's Javascript engine ruins any benefit you'd get from hardware acceleration. heh.

When you say respond to your typing, do you mean that you'll hit a letter and it'll take a while to appear? We were hoping we'd addressed some of those issues in this latest push by tweaking the way we were doing certain event handling parts of the code.
