PLEASE ANSWER! a) for each set of data draw the most suitable graph. justify your choice. b) decribe the trends that u see in the data be descriptive. question: the following are the math test scores out of 100, for grade 8 students: 78, 56, 73, 69, 82, 30, 55, 47, 60, 21, 73, 49, 89, 93, 59, 76, 70, 88, 100, 73, 97, 50, 65, 77, 53, 62, 80, 91, 76, 83. Can you please tell me all steps, what graph to use, what scales to go by, and what to do? it involves stem and leaf plot, histogram, and frequency table!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well, what do you think might be a good way to start with this? we have a bunch of grades and maybe we'd like to see how many people got A's B's C's or something like that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

uh start with stem and leaf?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hm, well I think a "frequency table" sounds pretty good, since we can easily just count how many A's there are (90-100) and how many B's there are (80-89) and so on

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how many A's B's C's D's and F's are there in that dataset?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

there are... at least 3 a's

OpenStudy (anonymous):

uhhh 5 b's

OpenStudy (anonymous):

8 c's

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol, yeah the counting will take a bit

OpenStudy (anonymous):

does 80's count as a's?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'd think that it would be like this A: 100-90 B: 89-80 C: 79-70 D 69-60 and F is 59 and below

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ooh ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so count how many a,b,c,d,f we have and then I'll show you a frequency table. then maybe we can make a histogram from that together!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok. so for a's i have 3 which is 91-97

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait brb!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I see at least 4 A's: 91 97 100 93

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you might write them down and cross them off as you tally them up or something like that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no hurry, I'll wait until you're done countin' em

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm suggesting to just do A B C D F and don't worry about like A+ or anything like that for now, just less things to count up.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

are you still there, counting them up?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im here!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

are you still there?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so a's 91-97 with 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

b's with 80-89 with 5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I defined A's as 90-100 which there are 4, but that's fine

OpenStudy (anonymous):

c's 70-78 with 8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait, how should i write it out then?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but yeah, how many D's and Fs?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well i have 60-69 with 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

50-59 with 5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

47-49 with 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

59 and less for F's

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then there 21 and 30 yea..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A: 100-90 B: 89-80 C: 79-70 D 69-60 and F is 59 and below

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so that's 4A's 5B's 8C's 4D's and 9 F's?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'll draw a frequency table of that:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think its 3 a's
