what are the spelling/grammar errors in the following sentences? The Ohio Board of Nursing (OBN) provides legal oversight for the practice of nursing in the state of Ohio. I would like to gain more knowledge on the number of children who are experiencing depression. In order to do this I would pass out 40 surveys to high school children. After receiving the results from the surveys I would then analysis the surveys and attempt to understand the extent of the problem. Cats are not the only mammals that experience hair balls. i am thinking that in the first question i can remove the (OBN) because that isnt necessary in the second question i would write out forty and analyze is spelled wrong in the third, i believe hairballs is one word and i would change the parenthesis to commas, ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you do not need the "who are" in the second sentence. possibly, it would be better to spell out *forty. Also, i would correct analysis and change it to *analyze :)

thanks:)

Cats are not the only mammals that experience hair balls. A human can form a hair ball (known as a trichobezoar), and they can cause abdominal obstruction.----

I will add a little to this too. A) In order to do this I would pass out 40 surveys to high school children The sentence A needs a comma after the word "this" B) After receiving the results from the surveys I would then analysis the surveys and attempt to understand the extent of the problem. Sentence B needs a comma between the word surveys and "I". Also, take out the word "then" after would. It is not needed and makes the sentence wordy. You could also put a comma between the word surveys and the word "and" C) Cats are not the only mammals that experience hair balls. A human can form a hair ball (known as a trichobezoar), and they can cause abdominal obstruction. In sentence C, you do not use a comma when using parentheses ( ). Parentheses act as a comma. I would personally construct the sentence like below Cats are not the only mammals that experience hair balls. A human can form a hair ball, which is known as a trichobezoar, and they can cause abdominal obstruction.

Yup, same assignment

The sentences are not succinctly and clearly written. Here they are written correctly: The Ohio Board of Nursing ("OBN") oversees the legal practice of nursing in Ohio. To learn more about the prevalence of high school children experiencing depression, I am going to survey 40 students and analyze the results. Humans, as well as cats, can develop hair balls, known as trichobezoars, which may cause abdominal obstruction.

The Ohio Board of Nursing, OBN, oversees the legal practice of nursing in Ohio. If you don't want to change the next sentences as Lois has done , I would change "analysis" to "analyse". I would also connect "hair to balls to make a compound word.
