Are there some good links available for free online general CS, IS, IT, & beginning application programming courses?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'll link you to http://cs101-class.org but it hasn't started yet. It's an introduction to computer science. Unless you mean you want a non-beginner course related to computer science or IT, then there's plenty within that link (which also haven't started yet but some will start soon on Jan 23rd! )

OpenStudy (anonymous):

also, for more beginner materials on computer science, you can try harvard's http://cs50.tv

OpenStudy (osanseviero):

http://ocw.mit.edu/courses/electrical-engineering-and-computer-science/ is a MIT beginner course for Computer Science and Python

OpenStudy (anonymous):

there's also OCW

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you so much. I certainly will take a look at each of these sources:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

There's also iTunes U on iTunes, as well as stuff on youtube

OpenStudy (anonymous):

http://db-class.org and http://ai-class.com the classes are already over, but maybe you can access their materials.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks

OpenStudy (osanseviero):

agddgdgwngo, those classes are not so easy if you have zero programming knowledge

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh right.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so you only needed beginner materials?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

On the internet in general, I haven't found videos that jumpstart you into developing applications; it's more like language tutorials. :(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks, Yes, beginner's. These should get me started:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

take care with the videos though; they are looong :(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Good point. Thanks again:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for easy, short tutorials on specific languages you can try thenewboston channel on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tvC1WCdV1XU&feature=list_related&playnext=1&list=SPAE85DE8440AA6B83 they have one set on Python, good if you are following Osanseviero's link to MIT 6.00

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks again:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

http://codeyear.com/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the parent site http://codeacademy.com is also good

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks much:)

OpenStudy (rsmith6559):

I think Stanford's OCW "Programming Methodologies CS-106A" is an excellent choice. http://see.stanford.edu
