If you have Word you can save your document as a PDF.

jugatuba is right Word 2007 and up will save your document as a pdf if you Save As and then select pdf in Save as Type but if you are working with OpenOffice or earlier versions of Word http://www.cutepdf.com/ is a free program which will do the conversion

Another option is to go to File > Print and then somewhere near the bottom left corner (on the Word for Mac version, it might be elsewhere on the PC version) there should be a button that says PDF. You can click on this and it should be a drop-down list with options to export as a PDF
