so two base area will be 4pi +4pi the diameter is 2r=4 the circumference of this circle is 2pir=4pi - so than the lateral area will be 4pi *3=12pi -so this is because if you check right the lateral area of one cylinder is like one rectangle with width added the circumference of circle and the lenght of this rectangle is the height of cylinder - the total area will be 4pi + 4pi + 12pi =20pi - the volume is base area * height = 4pi * 3 = 12pi
