A cross-sectional view of a log shows a concentric pattern. Which part of the stem gives rise to this pattern?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A. Phloem B. Xylem C. Epidermis

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if you mean PHYLOEM.. then A- because in Biology, if a cross-sectional view of a log shows a concentric pattern, the phyloem part of the stem gives rise to this pattern

@astrid it actually is "phloem". Damn idgit-.- And I would say the Xylem because those cells are responsible for the transport of both nutrients and water. They die after a year or so (thus the concentric pattern of rings). The phloem is responsible for movement of nutrients and water as well but think of them more as the cells responsible for releasing sap.
