This might sound silly, but i've been playing alot of Portal 2 lately, is it possible for "portals" to exist?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It all depends on the quantum Physics but i am not an expert but my answer would more or less be no, but it doesn't mean it doesn't exist

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It would be cool if someone invents it, i guess the public wouldnt know about it if it existed though...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Theoretical physics has it that the space-time fabric could attain a topological condition such that a ‘portal,’ or wormhole, is created. Were this true, however, then superluminar speeds could be achieved in such a way completely non-intuitive as to how we currently perceive it. Also, this has nothing to do with quantum mechanics.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So what does it have to do with?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hmm, I would say that this is as theoretical as it can get; it has been hard for physicists to find a natural process which could foment the creation of a wormhole in the context of general relativity. Many other things have also been theorized, such as the potential existence of wormholes at the \(\hbar\) scale.\[\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Whats that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Simply put, the Planck scale is the point at which laws, as we understand it, begin to break down.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Wasnt there a guy called Max Planck? What do you mean by "break down"?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That’s the guy who first came up with it. And with ‘break down’ I mean to say that the affected laws of physics no longer hold.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh, i see. So what is Planck length? What is the Planck scale a scale of?
