The graph of y = x2 is shown below. Using complete sentences, explain how the graph of y = -2(x + 3)2 + 1 would differ from this parabola?

Basically, you take the graph of x^2, flip it over the x axis and it becomes -x^2. Compress it by a factor of 2 and it becomes -2x^2. Shift that three units to the left and it becomes -2(x+3)^2.
