15/24 - 7/12?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

once again i ask... you need answer or method?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

method

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if you only need the answer, it is \[\frac{1}{24}\] method is to wrote both fractions with the same denominator, because that is the only way you can add or subtract fractions, if the denominators are th same

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in this case you can write them both with a denominator of 24 because both 12 and 24 divide 24 evenly (it is the "least common multiple")

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so now we take \[\frac{7}{12}\] and rewrite it so the denominator is 24 \[\frac{7}{12}=\frac{2\times 7}{2\times 12}=\frac{14}{24}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and finally \[\frac{15}{24}-\frac{14}{24}=\frac{15-14}{24}=\frac{1}{24}\]

Thank you.
