describe how to solve -x + 7 > 10. List the steps that it takes to solve this inequality. After you list the steps, describe in words how tell if the boundary line is dashed or solid. Then tell whether you shade above the line or below the line. Also include whether or not the inequality sign is flipped.

move the x?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no

OpenStudy (mertsj):

1. Subtract 7 from both sides. That will give you -x>3. 2. Multiply both sides by negative 1 and don't forget to reverse the inequality symbol. That will give you x<-3. 3. The boundary line will be dashed instead of solid because the "equal to" part is not included and so the boundary line is not part of the solution. 4. Since the boundary line is a vertical line, you should shade to the left of the line.
