How many and of what type are the solutions of a quadratic equation when the value of the radicand is 17?

OpenStudy (turingtest):

I am assuming the radicand in this case is what is called the discriminant in the quadratic formula.\[x=\frac{-b\pm\sqrt{b^2-4ac}}{2a}\]the discriminant is\[b^2-4ac\]if\[b^2-4ac>0\]there are two distinct, real solutions. if\[b^2-4ac<0\]there are two distinct, complex solutions. if\[b^2-4ac=0\]there is one solution that occurs twice. (called a double root) Which of these cases does yours belong to?
