need help figuring out some questions... like the question is asking me to write formula for the following compound: Silver nitrate.... i dont know how to do this, so any help would be appreciated....

Nitrate is a complex ion; NO3- with a valency of -1
Silver is a transition element (in the d-block on the periodic table) therefore it has variable valency (the number of bonds it can make with other elements can change)
Presuming silver has a valency of 1 here the chemical formula of silver nitrate would be; AgNO3 (the +1 of the silver cancels out the -1 valency of the nitrate)
