OpenStudy (aravindg):

does a rigid body have the maximum time for rotation??

OpenStudy (aravindg):

i got this doubt becoz ma frnd said that a boiled egg rotates for more time than aegg not boiled

OpenStudy (jamesj):

What do you think the difference is between the two? With the boiled egg, all the mass is rotating, while with the not boiled egg, the interior can be stationary. Hence the boiled egg can have a higher moment of inertia. Hence at the same angular velocity, the boiled egg will have a higher angular momentum. Hence it can take longer for the energy to be dissipated than with the non-boiled egg. Hence a boiled egg can appear to spin longer.
