Julienne I'm writing an APA reference. I don't have the actual reference book with me just the information from the instructor and we are to write the reference. The instructor info includes this line "Publisher, City/State: Paul H. Brookes, Baltimore,MD" On my entry do I include the Paul H. Brookes name after the page numbers? I.e. (pp. 97-116). Baltimore, MD: City/State: Paul H. Brookes. I can't seem to find a reference that has a name in it as an example. Thanks for the help.
Try this link for referencing books in APA format: http://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/560/08/ Will this help?
Also, I'm slightly unsure of your question, is it an article from a book or the book itself that you are trying to cite?
It's kind of a weird assignment. Here is what we are given and we have to write a citation. I included what I think the citation should look like, but I can't seem to find a exact example to go by. I'm just wondering if I referenced her information correctly. Chapter within a book. (7 points) Author: J. Doris Copyright: 1993 Title of Doris’ Chapter: defining learning disabilities: a history of the search for consensus in a book written by: Editors: G. R. Lyon D.B. Gray J. F. Cavanaugh N. A. Krasnegor Title of book: Better understanding learning disabilities Publisher, City/State: Paul H. Brookes, Baltimore,MD Page numbers: 97-116 My ENTRY: Doris, J. (1993). Defining learning disabilities: A history of the search for consensus. In G. R. Lyon, D. B. Gray, J. F. Cavanaugh, & N. A. Krasnegor (Eds.), Better understanding learning disabilities (pp. 97-116). Baltimore, MD: City/State: Paul H. Brookes.
Remove the City/State and you are exactly right. It should look like this: Doris, J. (1993). Defining learning disabilities: A history of the search for consensus. In G. R. Lyon, D. B. Gray, J. F. Cavanaugh, & N. A. Krasnegor (Eds.), Better understanding learning disabilities (pp. 97-116). Baltimore, MD: Paul H. Brookes.
Oh... I sure read that wrong. I was reading "city/state" as that was the name of a publisher. Thanks so much. Julienne
lol.
You're welcome
Yeah...I'm really on top of it today. (>: Guess that's what happens when I try to work full time, go to school and am working on publishing a book. Apparently I can't handle all of that. Glad you got a good laugh.
Been there. Done that. Been in almost exactly the same boat for four years now.
Thanks for bridging that little synapse for me. Who knows how long I would have looked at that before it clicked in. Sounds like you are busy too. Best of luck in your work!
I'll be getting a little break in about a week since I'm just finishing up my last class before graduation.
Congratulations. Hope you have great things planned for your future. I just finished a masters and am working on an endorsement. Seems like it can keep going on forever. I'm glad your "end" seems near. Take care, Julienne
