True or Flase A line segiment joining the midpoints of two sides of a triangle bisects the area in half

OpenStudy (waheguru):

is it flase becuase it is 1/4 the area

OpenStudy (mertsj):

And your question is?

OpenStudy (waheguru):

is it true of false

OpenStudy (mertsj):

you just said it is false

OpenStudy (waheguru):

am i right

OpenStudy (mertsj):

You are right that it is false.

OpenStudy (waheguru):

so it is 1/4 the area right?

OpenStudy (waheguru):

why wont anyone write???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Waheguru - it's false. The problem does not tell you what kind of triangle it is, therefore you cannot know that it bisects the triangle. False.

OpenStudy (mertsj):

Yes, it is 1/4 the area of the big triangle because the base of the small triangle is 1/2 the base of the big triangle and the height of the small triangle is 1/2 the height of the big triangle. A = (1/2b)(1/2h)=1/4bh
