Need help with my exam review! Find the midpoint of segment AB that has endpoints at the coordinates (4, -8) and (5,2). I used the midpoint formula and got (-2, 3.5) but I'm not sure it's right...

OpenStudy (mertsj):

Think of the midpoint as the average: add the x values and divide by 2. add the y values and divide by 2. That will be the midpoint.

OpenStudy (mertsj):

4+5=9 and 9 divided by 2 is 4.5 -8+2 =-6 and -6 divided by 2 is -3 So the midpoint is (4.5,-3)

Is that easier then the midpoint formula?

Also the next question I have says coordinates (-3,12) and the origin. Is origin (0,0)?
