helpp??!!!! A tower in Centerville sends radio signal a certain distance (in miles) according to the equation: x2 + y2 = 3,600. The Martinez family lives 50 miles north and 70 miles east of Centerville. Can the Martinez family receive the radio signal from Centerville? In complete sentences, explain your reasoning.

OpenStudy (mathmate):

x^2+y^2=3600 means a circle centred at (0,0) with a radius of 60 miles. Since the family lives 70 miles east, it is outside of the circle and so will not get the signal.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the eqn is the eqn of a cirlce with radius 60. 50 mi north relates to the y axis and 70 mi east relates to the x axis. if you graph the cirlce, the pnt (70, 50) lies outside of the cirlce....so NO they would not get signal

thankss :))
