2| x - 3 | > 8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x>7 or x<-1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you show me how you did that, because i know how to do inequality's when they start out like |2x|+5>11 but i didn't understand with the |x-3| in the middle.

OpenStudy (sasogeek):

|x-3| => x-3 or -x+3 => 2(x-3)>8 x-3>8/2 x>4+3 x>7 OR => 2(-x+3)>8 -x+3>8/2 -x>4-3 -x>1 x<-1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2| x - 3 | > 8 divide by 2 on both sides |x -3| > 4 This equation can be written as -4 > x-3 > 4
