If solid NaCl is added to a saturated water solution of PbCl2 at 20o C, a precipitate is formed. How would this affect the value of the Ksp for [Pb2+][Cl-] in solution? a) The Ksp increases. b)The Ksp decreases. c) The Ksp remains the same. d) none of the above.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

as here common effect will be show due to which reaction move backward means Ksp increases

OpenStudy (anonymous):

u der jfraser??

OpenStudy (jfraser):

the common ion effect will change the concentrations of the ions in solution, but the value of Ksp is CONSTANT at a constant temp. Ksp does not change

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes yes... u rit ksp only depends the temperature while due to common ion effect only the rate of reaction changes
