Is △TVS scalene, isosceles, or equilateral? The vertices are T(1, 1), V(9, 2) and S(5, 8).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if you calculate the lengths of the sides you'll get your answer eg length of Side TV = sqrt((1-9)^2 + (1-2)^2) = sqrt65 do similar thing for VS and ST

Thank You, I dont undertsand which triangle it would be though.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

VS works out to sqrt52 and ST to sqrt65 so its a triangle with 2 sides equal which is that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

isosceles

OpenStudy (anonymous):

right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

length of a line between two points is sqrt[(x2-x1)^2 + (y2-y1)^2]
