Which of the following explains the role of fruit bats as pictured in the rainforest food web shown above? They are autotrophs that use organic materials and sunlight to make food. They are detritivores that rely on dead plant matter for food. They are heterotrophs that depend on producers or other consumers for food. They are saprotrophs that recycle organic waste into food.
Come now, you can do this without the web. An autotroph does uses organic materials and sunlight to make food. Plants are an example of this. Detritivores ingest and break down dead organic matter. Heterotrophs depend on produces, think that can create their own organic compounds, or consumers, think organism that must eat other things to create organic compounds. Saprotrophs recycle organic waste into food by secreting enzymes. Think fungi when you see this. The question just wants to know what a fruit bat would be. Think of what the fruit bat is relying on in the food web, and tell us what you think the answer would be.
IDK A?
For A to be correct, it would have to use sunlight to make it's own food, like a plant. Don't just guess, reason through this. It's a really easy question if you just reason through it.
I definitely know it's not A, because the bat is not a plant...I think it's either B or C....I dont think it's D because it's not fungus/doesn't eat fungus. I cant decide between B or C....I'm leaning towards C because the banana trees(as pictured in the diagram) dont always have to be dead, or aren't specified as dead. Am I right?
