i would use the elimination method to about too many fraction
multiply the first equation by 2 and the 2nd equation by 3

10x+6y = -14
12x-6y = -30
add the two equations to get
22x = -44
x=-2
replace x into the equation 
-10 +3y =-7
3y=3
y=1
x=-2
