Here's what I've got: N=number of possible outcomes: 6x6=36 Favourable outcomes: (sum>8, => 9,10,11,12) {3}x{6},{4}x{5,6}, {5}x{4,5,6},{6}x{3,4,5,6} for a total of 10. Probability = 10/N=?

13/6

OpenStudy (mathmate):

{6}x{3,4,5,6} means the four elements (6,3),(6,4),(6,5),(6,6) which makes 4 possible outcomes. Can you check that the number of possible outcomes is 10? N has been calculated on the first line. Probability is calculated as, assuming all numbers have equal probabilities for each die (i.e. fair dice), then P(>8) = # of favourable outcomes / # of possible outcomes (N)
