You could also think of this problem using a proportion:$$80 words \div1 minute = ? words \div 30 minutes$$ We need to keep the same units in both proportions (words and words in numerator and minutes and minutes in denominator.)

After that, simply cross multiply. You'll get what Doodletech typed in the post above mine:80 * 30 words per minute = ? words per minute. ? will equal 2400.

You could also think of this as a direct variation problem

w = number words
c = constant words per minute
t = time

w = ct

As the time(t) increase the number of words(w) increase too so w  varies directly with t
