Not in Santa Cruz.  We are 3 mi from the Pacific Ocean at an elevation of 122 ft.  Too mild for snow.  When an occasional flake falls, it makes the headlines of the local newspaper.

Understand.  There was a military radar station near Mt Loma Prieta, 12 mi away at an altitude of 3600 ft.  It has been was shut down some time ago. The last large California Earth Quake was given the name of that mountain because that mountain was the nearest land mark to the quakes center.

I don't believe that there is any location in California where one can see the horizon without some mountain obscuring it.

The photo was taken about 65 years ago.

I may have been on that road in 1973 in a rotary valve Mazada sedan, however, it was not fuel injected and was running way too rich.  Had to turn around and return because the engine would almost not restart.
