Let f(x) = 3x, x<2 x+10, 27 Explain the process you would go through to find f(8)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if x = 8, then x > 7, so you use the last piece of the piecewise finction, so f(8) = 2 - 8 = -6

I am confused by why you came to use 2-x? What about 3x, x<2 etc? thanks for your help
