Solve using the square root method. Round to the nearest tenth if necessary. x2 + 15 =0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

These are the answer choices: A. {3.9} B. {3.9, -3.9} C. {7.5, -7.5} D. no real solution

OpenStudy (amistre64):

i dunno a sqrt method, but + added to + never gets to zero without being complicated

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nope i got this :)... x^2 = 15. \[x= \pm \sqrt{15}\]

OpenStudy (amistre64):

a little off:\[x=\pm\sqrt{-15}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4^2 ~ 16. so 3.9 and -3.9

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Op. got me ;)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

*oops. you cant do sqrt(- negative numbers). that makes it a "complex" solution. so no real solution.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh, I see!! Thanks both of you! :)

OpenStudy (amistre64):

:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks amistre :P
