13. What is the relationship between concentration gradient and active and passive transport?
active transport is the transport of substances from lower concentration to higher concentration. Passive transport is the other way round.active transport needs energy where as passive transport does not.
well if there will be no concentration gradient then how can molecules move and as said above passive transport is the movement of molecules without using energy and vice versa for active transport as it transport against the concentration gradient it requires energy... but there is a condition that gradient must be there for moment of molecules..
@heena: molecules always move through diffusion. "passive transport" is just another word for diffusion along a concentration gradient. :-) the answes given are right
yess sorry my fault lemme crrct my statement

no concentration gradient means that the concentration of substances is equal across the barrier...and this does not need any transport at all!
but i studied concentration gradient means difference in their potentials..which decide the movement..
sorry for the super late reply. gradient means a gradual difference. concentration gradient means a difference in the concentration.
