OpenStudy (unicorn):

what is heat a form of energy or a mode of energy transfer ???????

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Heat is a form of energy. Coduction, Convection and Radiation is a form of energy (heat) transfer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It is a form of energy. As ammubhave says, conduction, radiation and convection are modes of transferring heat energy through solids, vacuum and liquids respectively.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But heat is not an intrinsic property.. like volume or pressure or length, I.e. you never say something like "a gas has 40kJ of heat present in it", the word heat comes into play only when its being transfered!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But you can say that something has an energy value or even an equivalent energy value eg E = MC^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Basically the question is just a simple question. Don't blend anymore a more complicated one. Just answer what is being asked and Thread another if you want correction.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I hate to disagree on a thread that seems to have been wrapped up but heat is not a form of energy. Heat flow is the transfer of energy from one system to another without work being done.

OpenStudy (unicorn):

in some text i read heat is used both in form of energy and in form of modes of energy transfer but what i think heat is a form of energy that transfer from one body to another because of temp diff between body
