The population of the United States is about 3.02 x 10 ^(8), and the average American uses about 1.5 x 10^(2) gallons of water per day. Could a lake supply the American peopulation with water for 1 day?

3.08*1.5*10^10=4.62*10^10 Gallons. Just guessing from some things i've seen on google, it seems like a good sized lake will have around 10^12 gallons of water in it, where a the great lakes have a combined volume of around 10^15 gallons. so in short... yes.
