Derivation of mean, mode, and median:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Mean = sum of observations divided by the number of observations. Mode = the observation that occurs most frequently. Median = value of the middle observation if uneven number of observations, or the average of the two middle if even number of observations

OH yes I know :) but I want the derivation of those scary looking formulas in case of continuous series (grouped data)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hmm, okay - back to Mum for me ;)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The one that uses cumulative frequency an all. Sure thing tell her I said "HI" and thanks in advance :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

haha, will do. Sorry I didn't ask correctly the first time ;)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No problem :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Median = value of the middle observation if uneven number of observations, or the average of the two middle if even number of *sorted* observations ;)

lol
