Writing 8 Online

I have decided to start blogging, but my grammar is not so good, what shall i do, any tips and tricks to study grammar, without the boring books, also what makes a good writing, and how much time it will take to master good writing ?

OpenStudy (trancenova):

Well I can recommend this book: http://www.amazon.com/Eats-Shoots-Leaves-Tolerance-Punctuation/dp/1592402038 to read on grammar, its a fun read and reasonably shot, which makes it handy! :) - promise its not boring (maybe check if its on google books?). My other suggestion is to try a read alot, read anything you can get your hands on, look how they use grammar and how they construct sentences, reading helps!

Mingle with english-speakers. Learn from them. Would not be boring, I assure you. And good writing depends on good grammar, and vocab. Learn more words and use them. Like TranceNova said, READ! p/s: please don't learn from bloggers...(depends who)

Perhaps you should focus on the writing and on saying what you want to say in the way you want to say it, and figure out the grammar as you go along. To my way of thinking, writing that is direct and engaging is far more interesting and worthwhile to read, even with some errors of of usage or mechanics (or grammar), than writing which is pristine clean with respect to "errors" but has little or nothing to say or is said in such a confusing, roundabout manner that you can hardly make any sense of it. For help with writing, you might try Joseph Williams' book _Style: Lessons in Clarity and Grace_ (or the shorter version, _Style: The Basics of Clarity and Grace_). These are excellent resources for working on sentence structure and, to some extent, the structure of longer passages. You will need to develop your own voice, but general principles hold nonetheless. Other than that, as everyone else has said, read! Read published works or polished, credible blogs. Read essays. The best models for thoughtful, engaging blogs.
