A customer wanted 24 feet of rope. The clerk at the hardware store used what she thought was a yardstick to measure the rope. But the yardstick was acutally 2 inches too short. How many inches were missing from the customers piece of rope?

I am not the customer.

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

24ft = 8 yds..... so 8 x 2 = 16 so 16 inches short..

1 yard = 36 inches = 3 feet. She would have measured 8 yards to get 24 feet. Can you work it out from there? Now if Americans would just adopt the metric system, this problem would never happen :-P
