Maria has a total of 50 DVD's and CD's. If the number of CD's is two more than five times the number of DVD's, how many DVD's does she have?

I find the first step should be to turn the words into maths. DVD+CD=50 5DVD+2=CD From there, you should be able to find the values of CD and DVD by simultaneous equations.
