Solve using two different methods. Can someone please explain?! 3x - 9y = 3 6x - 3y = -24

OpenStudy (anonymous):

one method is to solve by deleting x or y and make one of them alone the other one is to use substitute : substitute "x as y" or "y as x"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

multiply the first equation by -2 and add to the second. you get \[-6x+18y=-6\] \[6x-3y=-24\] add to get \[12y=-30\] so \[y=-5\] that is one method

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok that was wrong. add to get \[15y=-30\] so \[y=-2\]

lololol what?
