The Chess Club meets every third day. The hiking club meets every fourth day. The photography clud meets every sixth day. All three clubs met today. ( Tuesday ) If the clubs never meet on Saturdays or Sundays, what day of the week will it be next time all three clubs meet on the same day? Explain.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You need to find the LCM (Least Common Multiple) of the 3 numbers. The issue is then the five day week. Divide the answer by 5 and determine the remainder. Then count that many weekdays from Tuesday.

If you type your answer, I will confirm or help you further

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Would the LCM be 12??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay. Sooo..., Whta do I do after..? I'm a LITTLE confused..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

divide by 5 and find the remainder

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2 R2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay, each 5 days brings you back to the starting day. You just need to count the remainder number of days from the starting day

OpenStudy (anonymous):

6? 7? idk im getting confused..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The remainder is 2 so 2 weekdays from Tuesday

OpenStudy (anonymous):

or you can count 12 weekdays from Tuesday

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So...What day would all three of them meet agin; no Sunday or Saturday.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

right, either using the remainder count 2 weekdays from Tuesday or just using the LCM count 12 weekdays from Tuesday - either way you get THURSDAY

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay. I get it Now. Thank Youu. (: I have a lot of homework :/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

good luck, just post if you need more help
