Can someone give me a review of The Feynman Lectures In Physics ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

There is no need to review it.. his lectures are awesome!!!!.. his book is awesome that i have heard, but for now I am referring resnik and halliday, i am actually downloading feynman's book now from torrents :D

I need the review from someone who's actually read it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

instead why don't you just download it? for free you can download right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What do you mean you need the review? Its a set of three textbooks, what kind of review do you want?

In terms of how good is it, it's phenomenal but difficult to follow if you have no background in the subject. In my opinion its best used to sharpen and clarify the knowledge of somebody who already has learned about the major topics that the textbooks covered. Not a good intro text.

I have the books and I'm still reading them. They are great but as Jemurray3 said, they are a bit hard to follow if you don't have any background on the subject. I wouldn't say they are not a good intro, but I would say that you would get much more out of them if you already know something about the subject you are studying.

I shouldn't have said not a good intro text. But.... if I had never learned physics, and I tried to learn from those books, I would have less success than if I tried a more standard text and then the Feynman lectures afterward :)
