in problems while solving them we take S.I standard international units kg) i think u are asking whether it shows the mass or weight the answer to that is it shows weight=mg(the reaction force exerted by the machine on us)

the weighing machine shows the weight of a body so it is a force acting vertically downwards towards the center of earth. so the reading shown by weighing machine is in newton.
