I have an MLA citation question. If the author is Malcolm X, on the Works Cited page, is it: X, Malcolm. or Malcolm X. in the author slot?

Could you explain justification? I believe you, but I want to be able to explain to the individual asking.

I'm thinking it's because it's a chosen name, not a given name. In-text, you wouldn't signal phrase him as "X states..."; one would write "Malcolm X states"
