what is the formula of a midpoint of a line segment

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

\[x = (x _{2} +x _{1})/2 and y =(y _{2} + y _{1})/2\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but what if you have one midpoint and one endpoint then how do u solve the equation how do u find the other endpoint

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

e.g end point (3, 5) and mid point ( 2,2) then for x\[x: 3 =(x _{2} +2)/2\] then solve.... 6 = (x + 2) x = 4.... repeat for the y value and the answers will give the endpoint

i dont get it
