OpenStudy (wondermath):

The Moon orbits Earth every 27.3 days. a)Determine the angular velocity of the moon, in deg per day and rad per day. b)The radius of the orbit of the Moon is about 384400 km. How far does the Moon move along an arc of its orbit every day? I got a, but I don't know how to do b. Help please?

i have no idea....................:(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Assuming that the orbit is circular you can use integral (rdthetha) = r*thetha ... thetha would be in radians ..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh

OpenStudy (anonymous):

or I can give a simpler method .. circumference of a circle is 2*pie*r .. now for a thetha movement --> length would be r * (thetha)/(2*pie) = r * degree (in radians)

OpenStudy (wondermath):

how do you find theta ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thetha is nothing but your angular velocity *time
