what is the difference between long division and synthetic division?
synthetic division is way more complicated? :)) well for me, perhaps.
Can I have a definition for both and the difference between them. please
i assume you mean of polynomials?
long division is dividing polynomials the long way, you know, the bringing down x's and powers and subtracting stuff (sorry for the unrigorous description :)) synthetic division is just designed to make long division shorter (it is certainly badly designed because all it does is confuse me) and also it works for linear divisors only. that means it only works if the divident is divided by a polynomial written in the form x - k
